Out of stock | | | | | | The LCD screen swivels open to a wide 120? angle for easy, full color viewing. With the PV-GS33's built-in digital still camera, you can capture crisp, true color images in ultra-high resolution. The PV-GS33 optical zoom feature acts like a telescope to produce close-up shots with extraordinary clarity. And, with variable zoom speeds, you can adjust how fast the camcorder lens moves from wide-angle to full telescope. In addition, the PV-GS33's digital zoom ratio can be increased up to an extraordinary 700x. Now that's close up!Soft skin mode detects skin tones and softens the focus in that area of the picture. It helps make blemishes and lines appear less noticeable, while preserving the sharpness of other areas in the picture.Digital Electronics Image Stabilizer (D-EIS) compensates for unintentional hand and camcorder movement to help stabilize your recordings, even while you're recording as a passenger from a moving vehicle or while walking. With Digital EIS, you will not have to worry about shaky soccer games or family outings. The drama of extreme close-ups is still achievable even if you're too far from your subject to obtain a conventional macro shot. That's because the macro zoom feature lets you zoom-in tight to capture your subject in breathtaking detail. This powerful imaging technique allows for excellent, soft-focused backgrounds while minimizing the chance of the camcorder casting a shadow on the subject. | | | | | |

A Fine Performer (full-featured but highly manageable). May 27, 2008 Some of the Panasonic models sporting ultra high (30X) optical zoom ratios that have come into the US market in the past several years have been disappointing, sacrificing lens quality to power and forcing Panasonic to go to Leica lenses to regain credibility. But this 10X optical, ultra light and compact minicam has proven to be a winner, even though, as a model that Panasonic did not contract to have manufactured outside Japan, it has been scarce in the States.
The lens is sharp and fast, producing good color and clarity in available, low light situations, and the mic picks up everything. The camera has all the features of Panasonic's top-of-the-line videocams--MagicPix, Soft SKin, Tele Macro, Multi Picture-in-Picture, Backlight Button, stereo zoom, fades, progressive photoshot, "smooth" cinema mode, wipes, and virtually every other effect--and of course image stabilization.
The only things I've occasionally missed are a slot for a flash card and perhaps a higher megapixel lens for blowing-up still photos (though a movie camera is unlikely to replace my Elph). I've used the camera for recording a concert (no extra mic), and the clarity of both the sonic and visual image are good enough not to tempt me to look at an HD camera.
