The HD Everio SHARE STATION CU-VD40 can be used to create HD data discs to archive HD video clip files. The SHARE STATION also plays these HD data discs. There are several options for selecting clips to be burned to disc - all clips, manual selection of specific clips, clip files not yet copied, by date, video playlists created in-camera and comprised of multiple user-selected clips, or by event type for those clips that have been tagged with an icon representing an event category (e.g. birthday, baby, graduation, vacation, etc.).The SHARE STATION archives these HD video clip programs and files to both DVD-R and DVD-RW 12cm discs, recording approximately 40 minutes in full HD on 8.5GB dual-layer DVD-R disc. It also allows for the creation of digital stills in a JPEG format. Dual-layer DVD-R is also supported, which means that the combination of the HD Everio and the CU-VD40 provides a PC-less solution to the high-capacity archiving needs of HD content.Archived HD and still files can be played back easily in ultra-high quality via the CU-VD40's HDMI output without the use of a computer or the camcorder. The HD Everio SHARE STATION also allows easy playback of HD archived files in analog component or down-converted SD video. Separately from the HD Everio, the CU-VD40 can be used as a DVD burner for PCs.

This product works great. No problems with disk error messages.
Great for backing up your data until you can process.

5Convienience in a little plastic box  Mar 16, 2008
I have had the Everio G for a year now. I had tried many ways to figure out how to get my movies on CD. I asked around, people kept on shrugging their shoulders and giving me lousy answers.
Here is the correct answer for the Everio, get the share station. It is really cool. You just edit your movies on the camera or on the computer and send it to this burner.
You have a couple of options. One is that you can plug the burner into the camera and burn movies from that device. The other option is that you can plug it into the computer.
It is very quiet. I was nervous that it was not working because it was so quiet, but it works like a charm. I would recomment CD's that have CD-R on them because these work best.

5Awsomly convinient unit for backing up your projects!  Mar 09, 2008
I'm not sure why everybody is complaining. This device works perfectly in the way it supposed to! Its task is creating backup copies of your footage from 60Gb GZ-HD7 hard drive. The unit is very reliable, works in tandem with the camera which allows select shots and combine them.
You don't have have to have it as Everio offers many ways to backup the footage, but this is one of them. As the description states it is not designed for making DVDs to watch. For making DVDs connect your Everio GZ-HD7 to general DVD recorder with audio-video interfaces. This unit connects to camcorder via USB. I am very happy with this my purchase!

1Camera ok..............share station......very very poor  Mar 05, 2008
The sharestation is probably the worst piece of equipment I have ever purchased. Worked when it wanted to the first couple of months, now it doesn't work at all. I have always liked JVC products but after this dreadful experience, I am gonna have to think long and hard before I buy ANYTHING from JVC. This item will not recognize ANY disc, even the ones I made with it

1JVC sharestations do not work  Feb 05, 2008
I recently bought a JVC sharestation, to go along with the JVC Everio camera I just bought. You are supposed to be able to connect the camera to the sharestation, and start burning DVD's. Sounds great! Every disk I have used creates the error message "Incompatible disk". I am not alone, only now I find out that hundreds of other people are also unable to use the device that they just paid $200 or more for. JVC is not acknowledging the problem. I don't know how JVC can get away with this!
